Hello and WELCOME TO THE 2010-2011 SCHOOL YEAR!!!
My name is Stacy Brunsell and I am the special education/learning center teacher at Jefferson for kindergarten, first, and second grade students in the building.
My classroom services students with Speech & Language Impairments, Learning Disabilities, Emotional Impairments, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Cognitive Impairments and other health impairments. Each student that receives support from my classroom has an IEP ( Individualized Education Plan) that indicates the amount of time and instruction each student will receive.
What type of "resource" does a Resource Room provide???
*My classroom is unique in that my curriculum is driven directly by each student's unique strengths, weaknesses and learning style.
*My goal is to maintain each student's "least restrictive environment" of support - always striving for success in the general ed. classroom as much as possible.
*Support looks different for each student - depending on their needs.
*Parents are an important part of my team and I look forward to working collaboratively.
*Students may receive support in both the general ed. and resource room, working in both small and large groups. I work to collaborate with the general education teachers, support staff and parents for the student's benefit.
