Working with Coding
Students learn how to use Bluetooth Robots
Elementary students in Chris Bower's technology class at Jefferson and West K-7 schools recently had the opportunity to work with coding using robots.
Instructional Technologist Dr. Anne Thorp, from the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District (OAISD), helped students to learn how to operate two robots "Dash" and "SPRK Sphero" using their iPads via Bluetooth.
"Students gathered together in groups of 3 and 4 and it was amazing to see how well they worked together, how much they learned, and how well they kept on going, exploring, and experimenting. The success we saw in every student was amazing," said Thorp.
This lesson inspired students to become "scientists" and use a variety of skills in creating their coding plans, including critical thinking and collaboration, planning and execution.
