Jay Woods--My Teacher Page

Hello. I'm Jay Woods. I teach American Studies 9 and World Studies 10 with my teaching partner, Joe Dummer, at Holland New Tech High School. In both courses, we study History and English in a project-based learning environment.

If you would like to get in touch with me, here is some more information:

Phone: 494 2714

School email: jwoods@hollandpublicschools.org

Home email: jhwoods11@gmail.com

I answer questions about homework at 8 PM every night. If you have a question about homework, just email me at home before 8 PM.

AT NEW TECH:  We use project-based instruction to prepare students for their future in the 21st Century workplace. We have a 1:1 student to computer ratio that allows all students to study using technology every day.

LOOKING AHEAD (November 28 - December 16):  We are currently working on the Romeo and Juliet--1914 project. Students recently finished reading Romeo and Juliet. Students are working to create a movie trailer for a new film version of the famous play, set during World War 1. This coincides with our study of World War 1, as each movie trailer needs to have authentic details from the war, and use lines from the Shakespeare play.

In World Studies, students are completing a simulation project that is not unlike the game Risk in both strategy and overall goals. Students will then be moving on to creating a Common Craft presentation about absolute monarchy.

WE HAVE A CLASS BLOG: Most of the information about Holland New Tech is posted within our project management software, which is called Echo. If you would like to access Echo (and you have a student or parent user name and password), here is the link. If you are interested in more information about Holland New Tech, here is the link that takes you to the school page.
