Welcome and thank you for clicking onto my teacher page through HPS. I graduated from MSU with a BA in Mathematics/Sociology and a few years later got my MA in Curriculum and Teaching. As a professional, I began teaching in the Chicago Public Schools, but for the better part of the last thirteen years I have been at HPS teaching math at Holland's Alternative program, West Middle School, VR Tech, and am now beginning my 6th year at HHS. I also have coached baseball here for 10 years and will be entering my 9th year coaching middle school basketball. I have been married for 9 years and have a 6 year old son and a 3 year old daughter. For the third year in a row I am teaching Algebra 2 and Honors Algebra 2.
When I decided I wanted to be a math teacher (at 17!) I thought I wanted to be the Pre-Calculus/Calculus guy. I have come to realize that in teaching Algebra 2, which is the last required class students need to graduate, I can make a bigger difference in the population of students who need it more, and it has been very intrinsically rewarding. I truly love the materials and hope to be the Algebra 2 guy for the foreseeable future.
The best way to contact me is by email. I can be reached at email@example.com. For a list of learning expectations and grading criteria, please follow the link to my syllabus. (Algebra 2, Honors Algebra 2) Starting within the first few weeks, I will be taping my lessons in their entirety and posting them to my youtube channel (see the link). While my student teacher is teaching, the students will have access to the lessons, taught by ME, on this site.
