Secondary Resource Teacher
I am a teacher at Holland High School who has the privilege of teaching students with disabilities. I find it truly inspiring to work with a group of learners who overcome learning challenges to meet their educational goals. I especially enjoy teaching the English Language Arts. I have co-taught Economics, US History, Government, English 9, and English 11, working alongside some of the best teachers. I consider it a privilege to work and learn along side people of different cultures and ethnicities and am inspired by the resilience and determination of our students. I am passionate about building relationships with students and parents to develop a community of belonging. What a rich life experience!
Below are links to some great websites that I use with my students.
Edmodo - An educational website, similar to facebook, that allows students and teachers to communicate with eachother. Each teacher and student has a profile and many resources are available within each group. Parents, you can even create a profile to access codes to view messages sent to your child.
Michigan eLibrary - A website developed to connect Michigan Libraries of all types to provied residents free access to online text articles, text books, images, and other research information. They have an amazing page devoted to teens called MeLTeens.
Collins Writing Program - Holland High School has chosen to use this program to increase the writing skills of our students and I have personally seen the benefits.
NEWSELA - A news website developed for the purpose of building reading comprehension of informational text for students reading at all levels.
noredink - A website developed to help students improve their grammar and writing skills.
