Welcome to Kristi Bruse's web page

Hello! My name is Kristi Bruse and this year is my 4th year at Holland High. This year I am teaching math, American History, resource, and reading in the CI program.   This year should be exciting as integrate the iPads into learning.  In addition, we have many great community experiences planned.

In American History:  We study from American Indians to the 2000's. Our units are:

  • Michigan Introduction
  • Michigan's First People
  • Explorers in Michigan
  • Becoming a State
  • Slavery, WW 1, WW 2
  • Michigan's Natural Resources
  • Transporting People and Goods in Michigan
  • Michigan's Products
  • Tourism in Michigan
  • Michigan in the 2000s
  • Michigan's Government

In Math: We focus on functional math skills. The topics include:  

  • money skills
  • computation
  • time
  • calendar skills
  • basic fractions
  • temperature
  • linear measurement
  • graphing

In Reading: Students will focus on reading Comprehension. The areas will be:

  • main idea and supporting detail,
  • sequence of events,
  • characters,
  • setting,
  • plot,
  • problem and solution,  
  • vocabulary.

LOOKING AHEAD (September):  We will be going to the beach on Friday. Sept. 21 will be our first car wash. Students will be starting their work/study placements
