Welcome to 6th/7th Grade Band Page-Bethany Van Oss (Band Director)
In 6th/7th grade band, students learn the basic musical instrument techniques and begin to understand how to play in a full ensemble. Grading is based on daily class participation, playing assessments, and mandatory evening rehearsals and concerts as well as all 3 annual Tulip Time parades.
Students are expected to practice at home on a consistent basis in order to achieve the level of musical skill necessary for public ensemble performance and a sound musical foundation that will follow them throughout their band career.
Currently, we are in the midst of our annual candy sale fundraiser. The sale began September 21, 2011 and will end October 5, 2011. Each candy bar is $1.00. The top salesperson out of all members of the 6th-12th grade bands will receive an Ipod. Keep selling!
This year, the 5th grade band program will run after school on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:30-4:15 p.m. at East K-7. More information will be available to 5th graders and parents in late October and the program is expected to run from approximately the middle of November to the beginning of May.
