Orchestra in all K-7 buildings: 5th and 6th/7th grade

Orchestra:  It's a String Thing!

Hello. I'm Kay Mayer and I've taught in Holland Public Schools for 12 years. I've taught a total of 25 years in the areas of orchestra, band, choir, general music, and drama.   

6th/7th grade orchestra information:  

   *  all students need to have book #2 of Essential Elements for Strings by Sept. 29 (students can purchase this at Meyer Music Store or bring $7.00 by Wed., Sept. 28 to class and a book will be ordered and delivered on Thurs., Sept. 29)     

   *  6th grade students need to practice 100 minutes per week and 7th grade students need to practice 75 minutes per week     

    *  students need to provide the following uniform items by Dec. 13:  boys (black dress pants, long-sleeved white shirt, black shoes, black socks...black tie will be provided by the school) girls (black shoes...long, black skirt and black top will be provided by the school)

    *  Concert information:   Mon., Dec. 12 dress rehearsal at West from 7:30-8:30 pm                                                                           Tues., Dec. 13 concert at West from 7:00-8:00 pm

       Attendance at each above date is mandatory...mark your calendars!

5th grade orchestra:  

   *  will run as an after-school program on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays beginning in Nov.            (details are being worked out as this is change from previous years)

   *  introduction to instrument choices, instrument trials, and parent meetings will occur in Oct.

   *  information will begin to be sent home in Thursday folders, mailings and this web page....Look          for this information to come!
