¡Bienvenidos a la clase de español!
¡Hola! Me llamo Señorita Castañon. I am the Spanish teacher at East! This is my tenth year teaching Spanish for Holland Public Schools. I am so excited to work with your children this year as they continue to make astounding leaps towards a more fluent command of the Spanish language.
Kindergartner through fifth grade students will receive 40 minutes of Spanish instruction once a week during which time they will be learning conversational skills in Spanish with a focus on community and family.
Middle School students in grades 6 and 7 are beginning to use their Spanish learned in Elementary Spanish and combining it with basic grammar. The emphasis is to teach proper grammar and to take students from the third person speech that dominates their Elementary Spanish years, to a more diverse subject verb command of expressions.
As we embark on a new year of study, please encourage your students to share what they know with you when they get home. Learning a language can be challenging so your support in their language acquisition is greatly appreciated and is a vital component in their success! Here's to a fantastic new school year and ¡viva el español!
