6th and 7th Grade Science
Hello! :) I'm Ann Klamer and this will be my 16th year teaching at the middle school level for Holland Public. 2015-2016 is going to be an AWESOME year for our students!
During my years of teaching I have taught middle school Science, Reading and Communication Arts. I always enjoy making learning fun and exciting. I look forward to teaching Science this year to the 6th and 7th grade learners at East K-7 School. Our District uses the Battle Creek Math and Science Kits to deliver quality hands-on science instruction.
6th Grade Science Curriculum: Students will cover four units of study in this order: "Energetic Connections," "The Planet Rock," "The Earth: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow," and "Energy in an Ecosystem." The main areas of study in these units focus on earth science concepts and biology along with some introductory physics understandings.
7th Grade Science Curriculum: Students will cover four units of study in this order: "Energy Effects," "Weather, Climate and Me," "Cellular Structure," and "Chemical Change." Concepts of physics and energy transfer and a bit of biology are the focus of these units. Seventh graders will also have a short 4 week exposure to Reproductive Health in the spring which takes place in their physical education class. Note: the "Cellular Structure" Unit is taught to accompany the Holland Public Schools' Reproductive Health Unit, and is not part of the Battle Creek Math and Science Kits.
