Future DUTCH Masters — Art from Holland High School

– Holland Museum Exhibit Runs Through Dec. 29 –

Holland High art students were invited to showcase their creative talents at the Holland Museum in an exclusive exhibit titled, 'Future "DUTCH" Masters – Art from Holland High School.'  The show opened in mid-November and runs through December 29. When you are in the downtown area, take a break from shopping and visit the museum. You'll be inspired.

The exhibit includes approximately 100 works of art.  All disciplines are represented (painting, printmaking, drawing, sculpture and computer graphics) and 8th through 12th grades are represented.  What are several of the highlights? There is the portfolio work from two seniors; Hayley Thompson and Shawna Hendrixson. There's an installation of quotes from Steve Jobs created by one of Rick Slachta's graphic design students as well as a collection of 'meals out of clay' by HHS ceramic students.  You can walk around an interactive installation of a landscape made and take part by stepping up to the piece and viewing through several hanging wood frames. Blowing on it will create some movement and change the views!  No one person will see the exact same thing. Also on display are famous cartoon characters painted larger than life, various metal projects (copper bas-relief, jewelry etc), clay work, wood and wire and more.
