May 2011 – VR Tech Junior Named Local Club's Youth of the Year
Christina Preston, a junior at VR Tech, represented the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Holland in the Michigan Youth of the Year contest in April.
Although she didn’t win, Christina said the experience was the latest of many she’s had since joining the club six years ago that helped her grow as a person.
"The Boys & Girls Club is a place I can just be myself -- my energetic self -- yet develop myself, too,” said Christina, 17. “I’ve been involved in a group (Keystone) that has really helped me mature into a leadership role with younger kids.”
Christina was one of 17 young people designated as Youth of the Year by their local clubs who competed for Michigan Youth of the Year honors.
