Scholarships:
The Gates Millennium Scholars Program is a renewable scholarship for African American, American Indian, Asian American or Hispanic American students who have a minimum 3.3 GPA and meet the Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria. For more information and the application please go to www.gmsp.org. Deadline is Jan. 11, 2012.
Wendy's High School Heisman awards students participating in a school sport who have a 3.0 minimum GPA from $10 gift certificates to $500 scholarships. For more information and the application please go to www.wendyheisman.com. Deadline is Oct. 2, 2011.
Kenley Farrel Memorial Scholarship rewards $1,000 scholarship to students who have a minimum 2.5 GPA and will be attending a MI college/university. An essay must be written on the "impact of mosquito borne disease on society" to be judged. For more information and the application please go to www.mimosq.org. Deadline is Nov. 1, 2011.

Coca-Cola Scholarship - Awards $10,000-$20,000 scholarships to students with a minimum 3.0 GPA who have leadership abilities, community service, and academic achievement. For more information and the application please visit www.coca-colascholars.org. Deadline is Oct. 31, 2011.
Lydia Cruz & Sandra Maria Ramos Scholarship - Is awarded through the Delta Tau Lambda Sorority to a Senior female student. The winner would attend the "Salute to Latinas: Fuerza de la Mujer" event at MSU on Oct. 14, 2011. For more information please visit www.deltataulambda.org. Deadline is Oct. 1, 2011.
Susan G Komen Scholarship - awards $10,000 per year to a student who is facing financial burdens due to the loss of a parent to breast cancer. Please visit www.komen.org/scholarship. Applications accepted from Sept. 15 - Nov. 15, 2011.
Colgate-Palmolive - Hispanic Students -"Make the U" (Haz La U) scholarship fund is awarding one $15,000 grant and ten $2,500 educational grants to Hispanic students. Apply and submit 3 short essays online at www.colgate.com/hazlau. Deadline is Dec. 31, 2011.
Michigan Oil & Gas Producers Education Foundation (MOGPEF) $500 minimum scholarships are awarded to students enrolled in a Michigan University or Community college who have a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need. The applicant must also be pursuing a degree in a field of study which would allow them to obtain a career in the crude oil and natural gas industry. Apply online at www.mogpef.org. Deadline is April 2, 2012.
Credit Union One is offering up to $6,000 scholarships. Seniors who have a family member who belong to Credit Union One, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, and have completed 30 or more hours of community service are encouraged to apply. Additional information and the application can be found in the counseling office. Deadline is April 1, 2012.
Advocates for Latino Student Advancement in Michigan Education (A.L.S.A.M.E.) offers scholarships to senior students with a minimum 2.5 GPA who show a strong commitment to supporting diversity in school and who will continue the effort to promote diversity and multiculturalism. See Mrs. Snyder in the counseling office for an application. Deadline is March 10, 2012.
NALS of Michigan offers a $1,000 scholarship to a student who will enroll in a Michigan school of advanced education pursuing a degree in the legal field, and have at least a B average. Please see Mrs. Snyder in the counseling office for more information and the application. The deadline is January 15, 2012.
AAA Michigan School Safety Patrol Scholarship - Were you a safety patrol in elementary or middle school? If so, you could be eligible for a $1,000 scholarship. The requirements are a minimum 3.0 GPA, minimum 21 ACT score, and a strong record of involvement in the community and/or extra curricular activities. Please see Mrs. Snyder in the counseling office for more information. Due Date is April 9, 2012.
Deputy David Lee Steenwyk Scholarship - The Ottawa County Deputy Sheriff's Association offers up to a $2,000 scholarship to a student planning to major in criminal justice who has a minimum 3.0 GPA. Please find the application at www.ottawacountydsa.com or stop in the counseling office. Due Date is March 9, 2012.
KFC Colonel's scholars awards up to $20,000 to students with financial need and an entrepreneurial spirit. Students must have a 2.75 minimum GPA, and enroll in a public Michigan college or university. Applications can be found at www.kfcscholars.org. Application accepted Dec. 1, 2011 to February 8, 2012.
Elks Foundation awards 500 four-year scholarships through its most valuable student scholarship contest ranging from $1,000 per year to $15,000 per year, for graduating high school seniors based on financial need, leadership and scholarship. For more information and the application, please visit www.elks.org/enf/scholars. There is also a flyer in the counseling office. You will also find the information on the Elks Legacy award which is awarded to a child or grandchild (or step-child, step-grandchild, or legal ward) of a living Elk.
RARE Foundation has a $2,500 scholarship opportunity for any senior who will be attending a Michigan college, university or post-secondary school in Fall of 2012. There is no GPA or test score requirements, you just need to submit a one page essay about someone whom you consider to be an "everyday hero". The National Commission and World Association will award 155 merit scholarships. Please visit www.co-op.edu for the application and to see the list of 7 institutions the scholarships qualify for.
Michigan Scottish Rite Scholarship offers scholarships to students attending an accredited college or university based on academics and financial need. It is not limited to only those students with Masonic ties but is open to anyone. To request an application please call 1-800-340-4060. Deadline is February 20, 2012.
Telluride Association offers a free 6 week academic opportunity for high school juniors for this summer held at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. They are looking for applicants from a diverse range of backgrounds and circumstances who are intelligent, ambitious, and generous. Lake Michigan Credit Union awards (8) $2,000 Hutt scholarships to senior students who compete in a 750-1,500 word essay contest "If you could accomplish one goal that would define you, what would it be?" Burger King offers $1,000 local scholarships and $5,000-$50,000 national scholarships to seniors with a minimum 2.5 GPA who have participated in school and community activities. Please visit haveityourwayfoundation.org for the application and more information. The deadline is January 12, 2012.
Ronald McDonald House Charities offers a few different scholarships to students who are exemplary role models in their communities. Please visit www.rmhc.org for details and eligibility requirements. Application deadline is January 27,2012.

GE - Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program honors the legacy and character of our nations 40th President by offering scholarships to exemplary young leaders. $10,000 renewable scholarships are awarded to 20 students demonstrating leadership, drive, integrity and citizenship. Janice M. Scott Memorial Scholarship - Offers scholarships to Seniors with a minimum 3.0 GPA who have demonstrated leadership abilities through participating in community services or other extra curricular activities. A 500-1000 word essay on "Describing his or her planned undergraduate study and how he or she plans to apply it upon graduation". Rosa Parks Scholarship Foundation - offers $2000 to graduating seniors based on scholarship, leadership, financial need and dedication to the civil rights principles of Rosa L Parks stand against racial prejudice. Minimum 2.5 GPA. Please pick up the application from Mrs. Snyder in the counseling office. Deadline is March 1, 2012.

Consumers Credit Union Scholarship - $2,000 scholarships are awarded to 5 senior students with a minimum 3.0 GPA and a minimum ACT score of 18. Visit www.consumers.org and select Information and Scholarship to find the application. A 300-500 word essay is required "Describe a challenge or event in your life that has changed your life". Deadline is March 1, 2012.

West Michigan Nursery and Landscape Association Scholarship - The Grand Haven Community Foundation offers a scholarship to a senior student planning to pursue a career in the horticulture or green industry. Visit www.ghacf.org for the application. Deadline is March 2, 2012.
United Federal Credit Union - offers one $2,000 and six $500 scholarships to senior students who are a member of United Federal Credit Union and demonstrate a commitment to community service. Buick Achievers Scholarship Program - Offers 100 scholarships each up to $25,000/year and 1,000 $2,000 scholarships to students who plan to major in a field of study that focuses on engineering, technology design or business with an interest in the automotive industry should apply.Visit www.buickacheivers.com for more information and the application.
