McKinney-Vento and Children Awaiting Foster Care Placement
Children awaiting foster care are to be provided the same services as other homeless children and youth according to the McKinney-Vento Act. As federal law is vague in its definition of "awaiting foster care" many states have defined its meaning. In Michigan, a child placed in foster care up to six continuous months in the same family qualifies for services under the McKinney-Vento Act.
