2019 Salvation Army Summer Day Camp
For Children ages 5-14
- Starting Feb 1st, 2019. Forms available at our office or contact 616.392.4461
- Registration is limited to 100 children! First-come, first-served!
SESSIONS, DATES & DAILY SCHEDULE:
- We offer one-week sessions.
- Sessions will run from June 10 through August 16, 2019. CLOSED on July 4 and 5th, for Independence day!
- Daily schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM-8:30 AM drop off then pickup is at 4:30 PM. Must be picked up by 4:30 PM.
COSTS & PAYMENTS:
- Cost per child, per week: $80 for first child, $50 for every child after
- Payment for the first session is due at registration in order to register. All other sessions must be paid one (1) week in advance.
To register your child(ren), you MUST bring…
- current insurance cards for each child;
- current shot records for each child;
- Breakfast and lunch provided daily.
- Fun activities and field trips!
- Swimming once a week and the Holland Aquatic Center.
Limited scholarships may be offered to “Pathway of Hope” participants.

Holland Area Arts Council
The Amazing Coral Reef
Kids learn about the coral reef and then make one! Little campers design and create numerous components of a beautiful living reef with all of it's beautiful fish, anemone and plantlife. Then we place all of our sculptures together for an amazing collaborative project. Scultures go home after the photos are taken!
3 Days • June 11–13 • 1-3:30 pm • $80/$90*
Quilting Camp - Amish Life
We weave in a little American art history and culture and then plunge into the design and construction of our Amish style quilts! Amish quilts have simple designs and colors that result in striking quilts. They used cast off bers and work clothes that trans- formed into super modern designs. Kids will sketch, plan, design and use the sewing machines to make their own kid sized Amish Inspired quilts.
4 Days • June 25 – 28 • 1-4pm • $110/$120*
It Ain’t Easy Being Green
Kids learn all about recycling- and not just how to sort the trash in the kitchen. Thihs camp includes a tour of the Padnos Recycling Scrapyard and the Pad- nos Pine Street Sculptures. We make a worm farm and create our own sculptures out of recycled mate- rials. Local recycling experts visit and teach us more about sustainability.

Eat With Your Eyes Cooking Camp
An introduction to cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner and how to make an artful presentation. Tie on an apron, roll up your sleeves and start stirring! Kids will get an introduction to cooking from scratch. Throughout the week, kids will learn how to cook a breakfast, a lunch and a dinner, and your chef will leave with skills to try at home!
July 17-19 • 1:00-4:00 p.m. • $110/$120*
Lions, Tigers and Bears OH MY! It’s OZ
We take a tour to visit the neighborhood where the Wizard of Oz was written and learn the backstory of the famous book and Movie. We watch dramatic portions of the lm with a movie expert and discuss the why it’s so great! We make OZ action characters like the Tin Man, Cowardly Lion, Scarecrow or Gilda the Good Witch to go in our dioramas. We travel to the kitchen and make yellow brick road cookies!
July 23-26 • 1:00-4:00 p.m. • $110/$120*
Score and Slurry Clay Camp
Located in our beautiful Ceramics Studio campers will learn about hand building including slab and ex- trusion in clay. We will also touch on wheel work with each child getting to try it. Young artists will take home completed pottery and clay sculpture that
you will treasure for years after the class ends.

Hope Summer Science Camps
Looking for a fun learning experience this summer? Join Hope College as they offer Summer Science Camps.
Science camps are for grades K-12. Morning Science sessions are held Monday-Friday (9am-Noon). Afternoon sessions are held Monday- Friday 1pm-4:30pm).
Freedom from fines at HDL!
Herrick District Library is experimenting with something new! During a new pilot program, print material checked out from the children's or teen's sections will not be charged overdue fines. This includes all Herrick District Library-owned children and teen books and magazines, foreign language children and teen print materials, and the children’s readalongs. This six-month pilot program will run through June 30. The library hopes to increase access to print material across our community through this pilot initiative. HHS Spark summer camps feature a variety of animal related topics that entertain and teach your child all aobut the world of animals.
